About a month after the race at I-70 Speedway in <\/span><\/span>Odessa, MO we came to our first mile of the season <\/span><\/span>in Lexington, KY dubbed the Red Mile. It was also a <\/span><\/span>doubleheader event. The double header weekends <\/span><\/span>can really make you or break you because there are <\/span><\/span>a lot of points up for grabs. The Red Mile in the past <\/span><\/span>has been good to me as I’ve stood on top of the box <\/span><\/span>at the previous three we’ve had. This was also our <\/span><\/span>first mile event with the restrictors on the Indian, so <\/span><\/span>we knew it’d be a challenge.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
<\/span>After the very first practice, I saw just how tough it <\/span><\/span>was as I came in almost half off from the Yamahas <\/span><\/span>who don’t have to run restrictors. It was the first <\/span><\/span>time on a mile that I think I was down that far on the <\/span><\/span>charts. The track started to change and we started <\/span><\/span>to make some adjustments. We ended up fast <\/span><\/span>qualifying it, but it was mainly by playing my cards <\/span><\/span>right with the draft. In the heat race I had some <\/span><\/span>drama with JD Beach as we touched going into turn <\/span><\/span>3. We smoothed it over later, but I ended up getting <\/span><\/span>a 2nd in heat race and the Mission #2Fast2Tasty <\/span><\/span>Challenge. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
In the main, I was battling again with JD <\/span><\/span>and his engine went south so I quickly had to deal <\/span><\/span>with the Rookie Dallas Daniels. We played cat and <\/span><\/span>mouse nearly the entire race and on the white flag I <\/span><\/span>knew I had to make a move. I was able to lead it off <\/span><\/span>of turn 4 with a big gap, but I got nipped at the line <\/span><\/span>by Dallas and he grabbed his first win of his career.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
