And now the moment you've all been waiting for... our winner for March 2008 is:
If your name appears above, send a confirmation email that includes your snail mail address to: firstname.lastname@example.org. If your name is NOT listed above, you don't need to send an email, you're automatically entered into the drawing for April. Presuming Chuck gets caught up, that drawing is likely only a week away!
* * * NEW WEB SPECIALS! * * *
Trust me when I say it's a rare occasion you'll see us offer special pricing. Notice how I carefully avoided use of the word discount... it's considered an expletive most heinous around here. Oops.
Anyway, for as long as they last, we have some Overstock specials on our website. We'd much rather they be out on the road instead of celebrating a birthday in our warehouse, so they are marked 50% off! If you have a 1997-2005 Roadking or 1996-2003 Wide-Glide, you should pay particular attention! Check out what's available HERE.
* * * TV TIDBITS * * *
As our earlier news brief pointed out, the third installment of Trippin' on Two Wheels aired April 20th. We are very happy to report the response was overwhelming and very positive. Dennis Gage writes, "...Trippin's airing Sunday morning pulled higher numbers than SPEED's entire prime time line up did Tuesday night... by a lot! The motorcycling community is actually incredibly connected, and they rallied behind this show almost as a movement for better programming. This is truly gratifying. Thanks so much for your support... Power to the people!"
If you missed it, we're pretty sure there's going to be more airings. You can check in over at Speed's website or the Trippin website for complete schedule details and previews. Thanks for watching, there is hope for television afterall.
* * * AUCTION * * *
"Legend of the motorcycle. A sale of exceptional motorcycles and related memorabilia featuring the Mike Corbin collection." If you've been biding your time, waiting in anticipation for your chance to bid on a perfectly restored Crocker motorcycle (#4 as a matter of fact), your wait is finally over. This weekend at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay, California, Bonhams & Butterfields is hosting an auction featuring the impressive Mike Corbin collection. In addition to the fantastic vintage motorcycles, Mike is also letting go of his rather eclectic array of collectables and motorcycle art.
One of the many featured items (and cover bike for the auction catalog) is Steve McQueen's 1940 Indian 45ci Sport Scout motorcycle. Originally sold by the McQueen estate in 1984, Mike acquired the bike in 2000 from the original 1984 auction buyer.
For more information please see the Bonhams website which includes both item descriptions as well as attendance information. Sure to be the coolest thing since bottled beer taste in a can!

Suggesting the following read is about as patently obvious as telling someone not to bathe with a toaster. Not only has the book been in print for years, but it has attained quite a level of noteriety. However, since I want to write it off on my taxes next year I'm going to officially recommend:
Two Wheels Through Terror: Diary of a South American Motorcycle Odyssey
Written by: Glen Heggstad
Available: Amazon.com for under $20.
Brief review: Who hasn't dreamed of just taking off on the bike for a year or so? Cruise American backroads in search of the World's largest ball of twine, ride the Dragon's Tail, or go vagrant in the California wine country... sounds good to me.
Mr Heggstad's goal was a bit more complex and involved Tierra del Fuego at the southern-most tip of South America. To say his trip was harrowing is an inordinate understatement. As a side note, I was thinking about taking a trip like this myself, but... errr... I had to paint my fence... or something.

What's better than a good ride? How 'bout a good ride that also benefits a good cause! If you've been reading the Corbin newsletter for awhile, you'll know it's getting time for the annual Give Your Heart to Kids Ride. A great ride in north San Diego county followed by lunch, entertainment and a live auction. Grand Marshalled by artist Scott Jacobs and sponsored by our pal Stan Miller and KFMB television. The event is 100% underwritten so all of the proceeds go to benefit Camp Hope.
Event is June 7th, 2008. Limited to the first 150 riders that sign up. For complete details, go HERE.
* * * 'NET NUGGETS * * *
As much as I'd like to populate this spot with some self serving bit of entertaining and enlightened content that pertains to Corbin, like Old Mother Hubbard, our cupboards are bare. As in, we don't have any new video to show you... and if I put off writing this newsletter to wait for some, then there won't be a newsletter OR a video. See what I mean?
So once again Chuck is counting on You Tube to cough up more interesting bits of motorcyle video. Check 'em out...
