* PRESIDENT'S DAY?
If you're like half the folks in the US, then you're enjoying an
extra day off courtesy of George Washington. For the rest of the
world (Chuck included), it just means that Mervyn's is having
another shoe sale. Regardless, we hope your week is off to a
great start and... err... Happy President's Day.

* HOLLISTER RALLY
As we mentioned last week, the city of Hollister has declared the
rally dead for 2006. However, we've seen enough B grade horror
flicks to know that just because something is "dead" doesn't mean
it's dead. So with that bit of optimism I will say that there are
currently TWO proposals before the council.
A new, fully fleshed out document has been submitted by Biker
Design to host the rally downtown as it has been for nearly a
decade. The other is a new submission to move the rally and
associated vendors to the local high school grounds. Mike Corbin
has officially offered sponsorship funds (in an undisclosed amount)
to help support the rally and get it back on track.
Regardless of the Council's decision, people are coming. Oh yes,
they're coming. Local hotels & camp grounds have reported NO
cancellations as a result of the news release that the rally was
off. So now the question is... "What's everyone going to do when
they get here?" We'll keep you up to date as news breaks.
* J&P CYCLE's METRIC MAKEOVER
In the attached image you'll see the new metric cruiser built by
J&P Cycles. The Bradley-David video team has been following
construction of the custom Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 and will air the
piece on Corbin's Ride-On this season on Speed Channel.
Speaking of which, don't forget the new season starts THIS WEEK!
A complete schedule can be found at: http://www.rideontv.com
* ANOTHER HISTORY LESSON
President's day has been officially observed as a Federal Holiday
in the US since 1971. What started in 1796 as an observation
of Washington's birthday (February 22nd) it was moved to the third
Monday of February in honor of Abraham Lincoln (another Feb baby).
This also served to "simplify the yearly calendar of holidays and
give federal employees some standard three-day weekends in the
process." Yeah, must be nice.
As a side note: Although modern calendars list Washington's
birthday as February 22nd, older style calendars like those in
use around George's birth year actually show he was born on
February 11th 1732.
So in order to "simplify the yearly calendar" for Corbin, I will
be out on Feb. 11th, Feb 22nd and the third Monday next year. HA.
* CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
We know what WE built with our products, but we'd like to see what
YOU'VE built! The new Corbin.com is in full production now and
we'd love to show your bike on our website. There's no prizes or
anything... not even what you'd call "15 minutes of fame", but it
WILL be seen by millions of people this year.
Just attach your digital pic to an e-mail and send it to me at:
chuck@corbin.com
NOTE 1: Our mail server won't take large attachments, so please
keep photos under 500k. If your photos are too big and you don't
know how to fix it, drop me a line and I'll make other arrangements
for you.
NOTE 2: We're partial to Corbin product. No matter how cool your
scoot, we probably won't use the pic if it doesn't pertain to
us somehow (of course). Scantily clad models in Corbin apparel
count! I'm kidding, lighten up.
* NEXT EVENT
Spring is springing and the Corbin truck heads out this week
packed full of goodies on the way to Daytona Beach, FL for Bike
Week. We'll have two locations in town and hope to see you there!
Bike Week

* L8-R KIDZ
Well, since I'm in the office on this fine President's Day, I may
as well get some real work done. Have a great week and we'll
mail ya again this friday when we're back on our regularly
scheduled program.
Happy Trails,
Chuck
