Trimtab Adjustable Fairing for Harley-Davidson Softails
Mike's experience in aerodynamics and the magic touch of the Corbin skunkworks combine to make a wind management system that functions every bit as good as it looks. Adjusts easily so it will work perfectly for riders of varying stature. Trimtab was designed to embrace the wind and improve the aerodynamics of the motorcycle and rider for a more relaxed ride and improved stability. Graceful contours look excellent as the fairing molds over the headlight like the integrated component it was engineered to be. A classic example of form and function having equal importance in the design process.
Here's how it works: Rather than try to shove it's way through the air mass like the traditional plexiglass windscreen, Trimtab works with the wind and creates a managed airflow. The wind is compressed into a laminar flow that is directed over your head and around your arms leaving you sitting in a low pressure "bubble". This relieves much of the turbulence and buffeting that become fatigue as you rack up the miles. By working WITH the wind rather than fighting it, the Trimtab makes your bike 8 - 12% more aerodynamically efficient which directly equates to more speed or added fuel efficiency. Careful placement and design of the fairing's shape actually aid the bike's stability at speed!
Corbin's known for improving the ergonomics and general riding comfort of all types of motorcycles. Our new Trimtab fairing is no different. We know that riders come in all shapes and sizes and that's why we made the fairing adjustable. Since it's designed to be looked OVER, you can easily adjust the angle to the position that gives you the amount of protection desired with a clear view of the road ahead. Adjustment of the Trimtab also makes it perfect for different riding applications... Lower it for more aggressive riding or raise it up for additional wind protection and cruising down the highway in comfort.
Because of the unique design of the Corbin Trimtab, we were able to bring the fairing much closer to you than other models on the market, which keeps you in the slipstream and provides better protection. As you saw in the video above, the rider sits in a bubble right behind the fairing. This low pressure area protects you from bugs and other airborne debris while smoothing out your ride. We've found the air behind the fairing so clean that it was easy to ride behind without a face shield!
Adjusting the fairing is a snap with the adjuster front and center right over the dash. Simply twist the knob and raise the fairing for more wind protection or lower it for a cooler look and cruising around town. Naturally we use beautiful chrome components that look right at home on your Harley front end. We also include a molded cover that slips over much of the brackets and creates a very clean look as you can see here. On the trailing edge, we include a leather covered bump pad to protect you in the event of accidental contact with the fairing edge.
The triple rib along the trailing edge is designed to create turbulence in the laminar airflow which actually reduces wind noise and buffeting. As you can see, the top one-third of the fairing is where the air mass compresses and puts the most pressure on the fairing. Because this area is BEHIND the steering head, it creates a rudder effect that makes the bike extremely stable at speed. In fact, the faster the bike is going, the more pronounced this effect becomes. Conversely, the traditional plexiglass windshield takes the brunt of the pressure ahead of the steering head which has a destabilizing effect... this can often be felt as a wagging in the rear end.
Trimtab fairing and molded cover come prepainted gloss black. Even if you're going to have yours custom painted, this works well since all of the difficult finish prep work has been done. Of course you have a wide choice of leather styles and colors to choose from so please be sure to specify on the order form. To take a look at the materials available, just click on the general information button at the top of the page. In all of this discussion of how the Trimtab works, we almost forgot to mention... It's dead sexy too! Some models like the Softail Deluxe (shown) may require different handlebar risers & clamp from your Harley dealer. These are not included with the Trimtab from Corbin.
Placement of the Trimtab adjusting knob makes it easy to reach and adjust with either hand. You can even adjust the fairing height while riding if you choose. Notice also how the included chrome & black brackets are designed to fit in with the look of your front end for total integration. Triple plate chrome brackets and adjusting arms look great and are well suited to withstand the elements. Installation is fairly simple and can be accomplished by the average weekend mechanic.

Adjustable
Trimtab fairing adjusts approximately 5" when measured at the trailing edge. This allows you to set the fairing at the right spot to give you the best wind protection and efficiency possible.
Leather Bump Pad
Bump pad on the fairing can be ordered in any of our materials to coordinate it with your Corbin seat or other accessories. Genuine leather!
Fibertech Construction
Corbin's Fibertech material provides durability and the ability to form complex aerodynamic shapes. Naturally a gel-coat layer provides a perfect finish.
Resin Transfer Molding
A new manufacturing process implemented in the Wizard's Workshop allows us to mold the Trimtab fairing for a perfect surface on BOTH sides!

Softails with stock front end from 1984 - 2005. Including: Softail Custom, Standard, Fatboy, Heritage, Night Train & Deluxe. Some models (like Deluxe) require different bar risers and clamp available from your Harley Dealer. Ask for the following part numbers: Risers # 56116-82A & 56117-82A Clamp #56119-77A
Does NOT fit: Deuce, Springer or Heritage Springer models. Will not install with the Harley-Davidson or Rick Doss model headlight nacelle available for the FL style front ends.
We use a High-Temp Stainless lubricant on the adjuster when it is assembled. With normal use, it should not need to be re-lubricated.

PLEASE NOTE: Corbin products are designed to fit very close to your bike for a clean look. Due to this, other accessories or options can inhibit proper fit. As an example: Tank Consoles (dashes), ignition modules, exhaust systems, sissy bars, etc. If you have accessories installed on your bike, please let us know so we can verify the fit for you.
SADDLE WARRANTY: Basepan, foam and hardware of the Corbin saddle is warranted to the original owner for life. Cover materials and workmanship are warranted for one year. Product will only be authorized to be shipped back, freight pre-paid, for refining of shape or to replace/rectify defective parts. In cases where the rework requires a new cover, a recover charge will be applied. Cash or credit refunds are not available. All goods being handled for customer service consideration must be accompanied by a Corbin receipt and a Return Material Authorization number (RMA).
FIBERGLASS WARRANTY: Structural integrity of Corbin fiberglass components are warranted to the original owner for life. Finish and paint are warranted against manufacturing defect for one year.
